We are truly enjoying our Christmas themed Bible time this month. I've found that a little less planning is working towards me being consistent in my teaching to the kids. If I get too bogged down into making a lot for them to do, I find that I am focused on the wrong things. When I have time and can get to it, I enjoy making more crafts for them to enjoy, but if not, we are really enjoying our reading and coloring on Sunday's.
We were at my parents' house last Sunday afternoon, and I found myself not worrying about the camera, and just enjoyed being with my parents, who taught me so much, and watching them enjoy Grayson and Ava learn....hence, no pictures! :) We talked about the true meaning of Christmas, reading the Nativity story again and The Story of Christmas to talk about Jesus' birth and how we celebrate that this season. We then read "Once Upon a Christmas Tree," a great book that tells the story of woodland animals who share their Christmas tree with each other, focusing on giving during Christmas. Grayson loves this story; we are reading it constantly. Then we all colored, even my dad. Grayson got to color a page with all the animals surrounding baby Jesus and we all got some Christmas themed pages...again, a little sad there are no pictures, but I'm so thankful we got to share the moments. We ended by singing several Christmas carols, beginning and ending with Grayson's favorite, Jingle Bells. :) Dad led us in a prayer and we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon just being together. It was very special to me for Grayson and Ava to share that with my parents. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for taking the time to join in our Rock star raising!!
One of Gray's Christian Christmas crafts he did this week with his sweet babysitter.
