Tot School-Christmas!

Tot School

Yea!!!! I'm back!!!!!!!! These silly wireless routers and the trouble they cause! Let's just pray we are finished with trouble! We have put "schooling" on hold and are really focusing on letting Grayson do all those fun, Christmas things that bring one of a kind memories. Like yesterday, I was baking Christmas cookies for my little guy and when I pulled them out of the oven, I thought, "mom." She used to bake them for me and Lance every year and would take them to school for our Christmas parties. When I was complaining to her last night about how very long it takes to do (a day to roll out and bake and a day to decorate), she said that if I thought that was hard, try watching a 7 year old take one bite and throw it in the trash! Never! The point is simple....I want to give my children these experiences to take with them, and maybe one day they'll open an oven and think of me.

We got an Usborne Nativity Advent book this year, and Grayson loves it. He's pretty much obsessed with all Nativity scenes, and at least this one is not breakable! As you read the birth of Jesus, you pull out the pieces and set up your own scene. We have not been able to leave it out without all the pieces walking away, but we've left it out and put it up several times. Great book!

We love Santa and always want our children to enjoy that fun, but more importantly, we want them to know why we celebrate Christ at Christmas and all throughout the year. He's made lots of Christian Christmas crafts and we're enjoying hearing what he's learning!

We made a wreath using a paper plate and pom poms....no picture of the wreath, but I did catch Grayson finding ways to use the poms in ways to suit him:

We're reading mostly Christmas books this month, and here I am (actually pictured) reading The Berenstain Bear's Christmas tree to the kids.

We had Grayson's trays out on Saturday...which one do you think he chose?

Yep, the Gingerbread house. I had illusions of making a homemade house, but that was lost along with hanging wreaths on every window and dormer on the house. We proudly make our kit gingerbread house and enjoyed every minute!

Grayson was very hands-on this year, which made for an interesting turnout....

Not exactly a masterpiece, but Grayson loved doing most of it and it's a beauty to me!

His favorite thing to do now is crawl up on the bar stool, and "fix" the parts that are leaning....this involves him taking bites out of the parts that are struggling.
