5:45 am Grayson wakes up saying,"Mommy, it's time to go play..." (repeats), Daddy and Mommy respond by telling him to play quietly in his room until it's time to get up for the day.
6:30 am "Mommy, Daddy, I played quietly...can I get up now??" We get up and begin the day.
Well, this morning things went a little differently. He woke up crying at 5:00 am on the dot. He plays quietly for about 30, but then starts yelling for us to come get him. I had just fed and put Ava back down in her room, and I'm already in zombie mode, so I spare Matt and make my way to Gray's room. He is raring to go, but I tell him to look out his window (this is the only way we prove it's still "bedtime"). He seems content on staying in his room. To further encourage this, I turn off his lights that he's already turned on and tell him to stay in bed.
Okay, here is a critical point in the turn of events. Grayson is really easy to read...not known for his subtlety....and I'm feeling like he'll lay back down. When I get back to our room, his monitor is beeping, which means he's hit the button to turn it off. Again, critical point: Normally, I'm the monitor Nazi, demanding that it be on every night because if he needed us, we couldn't hear him, while Matt swears we would. Normally, Grayson just yells at the door until we respond; he always lets us know whatever he needs. Well today was not a normal day. I decided I was just too tired to go back in and risk waking him up further by turning the monitor base on and crawled back into bed. And Grayson decided he didn't need us, even when things took an interesting turn.
We awoke about an hour later at 7:40 am; I began feeding Ava and asked if Matt would go check on him before he hopped in the shower. About 2 minutes pass and I hear Matt yelling for me to come now (sidebar: if you're getting worried, Grayson is just fine). We walked in to see the room like this (minus the towels):
I know it's hard to see, but check out the floor...wet. And not just wet, soaked. I mean, seeping up around your feet soaked. That whole side of the room about 4 feet out was flooded.
Grayson had turned on both faucets in the sink and stopped it up. Who knows how long it had been running. Clearly long enough to fill all the drawers with water (see pic: there's a line in the middle of the toilet paper roll--that's water!), fill the floor with at least 2 inches of water, soak his carpets in the bedroom, his closet which is beside his bathroom, and run underneath into Ava's room, soaking her closet and into her bedroom as well. NO, I AM NOT KIDDING! Again, I know it's hard to see, but there's a line inside his stool as well. At this point I should say, once the shock of how much of a mess this was...we're talking possible insurance coverage, ripping up carpets, re-stretching Ava's brand new carpet, bringing in industrial fans to blow water off....we were so thankful God had protected our little one. He could have been hurt in so many ways. The ONE day I don't have the monitor on he decides to be super-curious! Seriously, I felt terrible and am so thankful he wasn't hurt...he was having a ball. He was running around the room naked when I got there, saying (with wet hair), "Mommy, I made such a messy mess and there's water everywhere...It's disgusting!" I wanted to laugh, cry, kill him and hug him all at the same time! Crazy how such a little person can do so much damage, huh?

Oh. My. Word. I don't know what to say other than bless you. I'm glad he didn't get hurt either.
