Tot School...or something like it!

Tot School

Since Matt and I are considering home schooling our kids, I decided it was time to get more organized with our art projects around the house. I've always tried, especially in the last year, to have some art time everyday along with some reading in addition to our bedtime stories. We've been working on colors and counting for some time now, and Grayson sings his ABC's (despite the l-m-n-o-p) like a champ. So, I've been really researching and reading up on different activities that really help with learning development and preparing them to learn in the next few years. This was our first "organized learning time" tonight. He had a tub filled with elbow macaroni and rigatoni pasta (all dry, of course), and had different mediums to play with. He got to pour, scoop, spoon, and even thread it through a funnel. Tomorrow we'll work on sorting the macaroni from the rigatoni. Seems simple, but it sure fascinated him! This weekend we're going to learn all about dinosaurs, which he loves right now, and I've got a recipe for plaster to "fossilize" his toy dinos...hopefully some pics of this to come. Wish us luck on our new organized play!
